Customizing your From Address for outgoing emails

Here's how to change your From Address

By default, Frederick sends email to your customers with a From Address of "noreply@hirefrederick.com" and a reply-to address of your location email address. This allows us to ensure the correct anti-spam settings are configured and optimize deliverability, while also ensuring that anyone who hits Reply will send their replies back to your business.

If your location email address is on a free email domain such as @gmail.com, @outlook.com, or @yahoo.com, we don't support customizing your From Address, because those services have strict anti-spam rules that can cause emails sent from outside systems using their domains to be blocked.

However, if you use a custom email domain, we absolutely recommend you use it as your From Address! To customize your from address:

  1. To ensure deliverability, it is very important that you set an SPF record on your custom domain before changing your From Address. See the instructions below for how to do this.
  2. From the Business Listing Settings page, look for the From Address setting, and select your location email address from the dropdown. Choose Save to save your changes

Setting your SPF record to ensure deliverability

For Frederick, you will need to add include:hirefrederick.com:

If you don't already have an SPF record, you can add one. To do so, add a TXT record through your DNS provider with this as the content: v=spf1 include:hirefrederick.com ~all

Important: Do not add more than one SPF record to your domain. If you already have one, you simply need to add include:hirefrederick.com to your existing record.

For instance, if you use outlook, you have have a record like this: v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com ~all

To add Frederick to the above SPF record, edit it to be v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com include:hirefrederick.com ~all

Testing your SPF record

Once you have added or updated your SPF record, you can test it using tools such as SPF Record Tester.

For testing purposes, Frederick's current outbound email IP addresses are:

Please note that the above IP addresses are subject to change and may not be a complete list. Our SPF record at hirefrederick.com will always pass for the complete list so you should include:hirefrederick.com in your record to ensure deliverability.

What is SPF?

SPF (short for Sender Policy Framework) is a setting you can set on your custom domain to tell email services to trust emails coming from outside systems such as Frederick. If you don't have an SPF record, of if you have one that does not include hirefrederick.com as a valid sender, your emails will be more likely to end up in the spam filter instead of your customers inboxes.
